Everyone has to prep their OWN bikes before riding. Back when I sold bikes regularly it was always a bit unnerving when a customer came and wanted to buy a bike for a planned ride later that day or the next day. It isn't that I'm not confident in my products, it's the fact that bikes, although simple, can still have some "ghosts in the machine" from time to time. Always test out your rides before doing an actual ride and doing it yourself will prepare you in case shit goes down on the road.
