| Here’s another update on the Force RD. I’m going with the organic look as I’ve mentioned before. Every unnecessary corner has been shaven down and every unnecessary panel has been drilled out. This is not to look like a “drillium” modified part but something a bit more elegant and hopefully efficient -stronger and lighter. Most of the cuts are still rough cuts and will be smoothed out later. So what’s the weight savings for all of this work? About 10 grams saved. That’s extremely little in the scheme of a whole bike so unless you’re going for every gram, or going for the look DON’T put yourself through the trouble of shaving off material. Most of the weight is in the torsion spring mechanism that supplies torque to the jockey wheel cages and so far I haven’t found a way nor seen anyone modify this with success. Next |
